New Beginnings was about 2 weeks after we were called and it was wonderful. It was a great way to introduce ourselves and to get to know each of these great young women in the Brimhall Ward. The 2012 Mutual Theme is "Arise and Shine Forth that thy light may be a standard for the nations". D&C 115:5 Our New Beginnings Program was titled The Light Keepers - Women of Great Virtue.

Our Beautiful Young Women representing Women of the scriptures who arise and shine forth by representing each of the Young Women Values.
Some of my thoughts for the evening: I love that we call this night New Beginnings. It's a new year. We have new goals to set and to accomplish. We have 5 new young women joining us this year to share our experiences and friendships with. AND You have new leaders to love you and to share in this time of your lives as you are striving to live the Young Women Values.
You've all heard of the saying that today is the beginning of the rest of your lives. This is a New Beginning for all us.
And I am so excited to ALSO be able to celebrate the new mutual theme of 2012 Arise & Shine Forth. D&C 115:5 Arise and shine forth, that thy light may be a standard for the nations.
Sister Elaine Dalton says this is a call for you to be a leader. For you to lead out in purity, modesty and holiness. It is a call to change the world!
And you know what? As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and as the Young Women of the Brimhall Ward, we can change the world.
Arise & Shine Forth. Just saying it makes me want to just stand up tall. You young women already shine. Everyone's been telling me what a wonderful group of young women we get to work with.
You are Young Women who pray daily, who read the Book of Mormon, who live the standards in For the Strength of Youth and who smile.
Our call is not only to Arise and Shine but to Arise & Shine Forth with sincere friendships and kindness to all. And as Elder L. Tom Perry says, "to assist all of our Heavenly Father's children to return to their Christian faith and to the strong religious foundation that is so necessary for them to enjoy peace of mind and real happiness in this period of mortal experience." and through our examples of righteousness, as we set our standards high, as we look to Our Savior and to our goal of being worthy to enter the temple, we will change the world.

This is your moment to Arise & Shine Forth. Be there for Heavenly Father and Arise to this call. Be the Light Keepers, Be the Light on a Hill.
This is a New Beginning.
And I know that we have been given everything we need to do this. We have the gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that Heavenly Father knows we can do this. I want each of you young women to know that I have a testimony of the gospel. I know this is the true church of Christ. I know he is my Savior and loves me. I know I am a daughter of a Heavenly Father who loves me. I know I am not perfect but have been blessed with many talents and abilities that I get to share and lots of experiences I get to learn and grow from. And I know as I accept the challenge of this call to arise and shine forth that I can also help change the world. And I am excited to be doing this with each of you young women. I leave these words with you in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
