Wordless Wednesday

Okay, my Wordless Wednesday's are never Wordless. I just can't post a picture without telling about it and I can't ever post anything without a picture.

I got strawberries for .87 lb. I thought that was a steal. I wasn't sure what I was going to do but I bought 15 lbs. Looking back I should have bought a lot more. I ended up making freezer jam for the first time. AND my family loves it.

Lately, I have been trying to get creative with my cake blog photography and I have been taking pictures of my freezer meals for our freezer swap blog. Thus the photo shoot with my Strawberry Jam. I made about 10 jars, but the freezer jars weren't as photogenic as these were by our strawberry garden bed.

How Convenient!

These are pictures from my iphone. They are little random but it is convenient having a camera with me all the time.

Ethan had a small cavity filled and I felt like taking a picture. He is always a good sport when it comes to taking his picture.

I need a Vacation!

"I Need a Vacation" is actually a musical by the RRE Second Graders. We have been listening to the the songs in this musical for the last few months as Rachel and Matthew have been singing them around the house.

Matthew was chosen to play a lead part as Tourist #2. This required him to be at school 30 minutes earlier two times a week for the last month or so. He did well to get up early and be ready. He was excited and it was worth it. He did a wonderful job. His class also sang "Gone Fishin". He did say afterwards that he didn't like that. I think being in front of all those people made him a little nervous.

Rachel's class sang I'm Goin' to Wonderland". The kids said it should have been Disneyland, but they weren't aloud to say Disneyland, so Wonderland it is. Rachel did a great job too. She was all smiles while she sang and did her routine perfectly.

I came to the early show to take pictures and to see where they were on stage so I knew where to bring the family to sit that night and so I could take video. We had to scrounge for seats but were able to to get pretty close.

AND we also had company come. The Brunson family came to watch the performance. This really meant a lot to ALL of us and they even gave up Astros vs. Dodgers tickets to come. WOW! You guys are the best!!!

The musical was great and we celebrated afterwards with Blue Bell Ice Cream Sandwiches.

The Infamous Field Trip

I will never forget this field trip and I didn't even go. It was one of those unforgettable embarrassing moments in a busy mother's life.

I got Lauren all ready to go on her field trip with her school shirt, special packed lunch, sunscreen and was on time, to find out that the field trip wasn't on Tuesday it was on Thursday.

So Thursday, I got Lauren all ready to go on her field trip with her school shirt, special packed lunch, sunscreen and was on time, to find out that the field trip wasn't this Thursday it was next Thursday.

So the next Thursday, I got Lauren all ready to go on her field trip with her school shirt, special packed lunch, sunscreen and was on time, to find out that the field trip really was TODAY.

So almost three days in a row of Lauren wearing her orange school shirt and me looking like I have totally lost my mind, ALL so she could have fun with her friends and so I could have these fun pictures that another mom gave me. (Only 2 parents per class were allowed to chaperon this trip, I was a little bummed. Yet, it looks like I was too busy to go anyway.)

Apparently, all the other kids went down this slide by themselves but Lauren needed a little help. This mom looks like she didn't seem to mind. Lauren calls it the bumpy slide. It was like a farmer's conveyer belt made with rollers.

Rachel's Art Show

Rachel was invited to the Katy Independent School District Spring Art Show. Each school was able to pick 12 art pieces to have on display. So out of the whole Elementary School, K-5 approximately 1,300 students, Rachel's was one of the 12.

We are so proud of you Rachel. And we love your Art Piece.

Beautiful Weather!

It has been so nice outside. We've even been able to enjoy the beautiful evenings outside as much as we can before summer hits us.

Ella came over today and the girls had fun outside together. It was a beautiful day!

It's Raining, It's Pouring, It's Dumping

Rachel is having fun going to get the mail in the rain. We had a LOT of rain.

I took her to our Stake Achievement Day Activity, this was Saturdya, April 18, and on the way to pick her up this is what I drove through. I was a little nervous at times. I have never seen these roads so flooded. It seemed like all this rain came down in an hour. But the good thing was that by the time I headed back home these roads were clear. It is nice to know that we have a good drainage system around here.

If you've ever been to the Katy Stake Center, where I go to church, you may recognize these too pictures. There was soooo much water.

I didn't get a picture, but Steve said he had never seen the bayou behind our house so full.

Just another day of severe weather in Texas.

Special Easter Eggs

When we were in Decatur for Emma's Baby Blessing, my mom gave me this package for Easter. Talk about planning ahead. She had made each of the kids her special peekaboo sugar eggs. And you would not believe the response the kids gave when they recieved them on Easter. It was better than the Easter Bunny got. They loved them and were amazed that Grandma Cannon made them.

Family Day Off

The kids had the Monday after Easter off and since Steve has some time off we were all able to spend it together. We first went to the church book store to exchange Matthew & Rachel's scripture cases that Grandma & Grandpa Spendlove got for them. They liked the one's they were given, but think the thought of being able to pick their own was more appealing. So they both picked out the exact same case they were given but just in a different color. Steve and I both that was funny.

Then we were off to see Monsters vs. Aliens 3D. We were given a gift certificate for Christmas and finally decided to use it today. I have to say that I wouldn't give this movie a very exciting rating because it wasn't very exciting. Watching it in 3D however made it more fun. You gotta love the glasses.

Next on our agenda was a visit to the nicest restaurant our kids have probably ever been too. Steve received a gift certificate to the Taste of Texas for a project he worked on at bp. So this was the day to use it. We gave the kids a big pep talk before we went inside all about using their best manners. I don't know if it was the pep talk or just the atmosphere of the restaurant, but they were wonderful. We even had a another guest come to our table and compliment the children on how well behaved they were. Wow, that never happens. So definitely blog worthy!!!

We had a great day together and a great Easter weekend.
