This month was pretty much all about our wards 5th birthday. The youth were in charge of the entertainment for the party. So each class did a lip sync (this is actually an anual tradition) which took some time preparing. They all did an awesome job and were definitely entertaining.
HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY to the BRIMHALL WARD
Earlier in the month we had an ARISE & SHINE BREAKFAST. We wanted to meet outside somewhere so we could let off some balloons that had our testimonies in them, but woudn't you know it, there is shortage of helium and so we couldn't do that. But it was still a good morning. I gave a short object lesson. Sister Hart had them write a way that they arise and shine on their cut out hand and we made sun out of them. And Sister Henderson made a darling brown sack breakfast each of us. The girls were great sports for having to get up early on a Saturday morning. After breakfast and with our Camp Arise and Shine T-shirts we headed over to
Project Linus were we helped make lots fo fleece blankets. It was a wonderful day!
At the end of it all, we stuffed our faces with some salad and baked potatoes.

Because of that we can learn to see ourselves as special, unique
children of God.”
What also comes w/ being unique and
having been given special gifts & personalities is our different
challenges & trials.
Have you ever looked at someone and
thought Wow, they have it sooo easy! I wish I could be like her!
Well, they are really no different from you in the fact that they are
a child of God just like you and their Heavenly Father wants them to
learn and grow and be happy just like he wants you to do also.
I was thinking about that question,
“Why Heavenly Father would let his children suffer?” And I
thought about my own children and of course I don't want them to
suffer or be in pain. Just like Heavenly Father, I want them to be
happy and to learn and become strong. And we can't do that unless we
are faced with a few difficulties here and there. How boring we
would be if we had the a Picture Perfect Life.
I know each one of you is struggling w/
something right now, some maybe a little more than others at the
moment.
I can take this in many directions
right now. I can tell you to to remember who you are, A Daughter of
Heavenly Father who loves you, I can tell you to please keep
smiling, I can tell you to continue to keep your standards high, I
can tell you to go to your Heavenly father on your knees in Prayer
and ask for help, I can tell you to talk to your parents, I can tell
you to have Faith that everything will be all right. I can tell you
to be obedient, I can tell you that you are not alone but what I
want to tell you is to Arise & Shine. Just like our prophet and
the leaders of the church are telling you. Endure those challenges
well, learn and grow from them, use them to your advantage. Pray
that you will understand and know what it is you are to learn right
now.
You just walked around for a few
minutes while savoring a yummy piece of candy and feeling some
discomfort from a little tiny pebble in your shoe. What do you
remember most about this walk?
Sometimes we focus on the small
hardships or trials (pebbles) that are part of our life and forget
the good things (candies) that are all around us.
You girls are so blessed, you have so
much and I am not just talking about monetary things, which is also
quite a lot. You know what I am talking about, you have the gospel.
You have a Heavenly Father who loves you and knows who you are and
what you need, You have a Savior that made it possible for you to be
able to live happily forever after. You have family, leaders and
friends who love and care for you. I hope that as you each Arise and
Shine Forth as you endure your challenges with a smile that you
encourage each other, that you are there for each other, that you
have courage and boldness and an enthusiasm about life – about your
life. That your attitude about the many wonderful things in life
that you have does shine. That people will want to know you and be
like you and be your friend.
Even the prophets have said that you
have come to earth at this time of great opportunity and also of
great challenges. You are the generation that the Lord has saved for
this day. Arise & Shine that thy light may be a standard to the
nations.
I want you to know that each one of
your young women leaders love you. And today we hope that you fill
uplifted and enjoy being with each other as we serve together and
Arise & Shine.
We've made you each a necklace, with
the hopes that you will wear it often and use it as a reminder to
Arise & Shine, as a reminder to share your light, and as a
reminder of who you are and that you are loved.
