CupCake Cake Disaster

I can only show this on my family blog. But just wanted to share a moment of the cake lady in distress.

The CupCake Cake before I went to bed.
The CupCake Cake when I woke up.
The CupCake Cake right before it was picked up.
I had tried to make the cake narrow at the bottom, of course to resemble a cupcake, but my cake is too soft to hold that form for too long and it fell over. So I very carefully just took the bottom layer off. Now it looks like a mushroom. My customer was still very pleased, at least she didn't show any signs of disappointment; however I was still embarrassed.

Happy Birthday Uncle Darrin!

My baby brother is turning 27. He is another one of my goodhearted brothers. He always takes good care of my kids when he is around. He is hardworking and lots of fun to be with.

He made this awesome slip in slide for my kids.

He is a great uncle to wrestle with.
He is entertaining all the time.

And so caring and kind.

He put Lauren to sleep by letting her wear his hat. That is all it took!
Thank you Darrin for being so awesome and we hope you have a great day!

Branson, MO

Grandma & Grandpa Cannon took a little trip to Branson, MO and brought us all a special little souvenir. Steve got a nice bag of peanut brittle. It is all gone so he is not in the picture and well he took the picture. They gave me a "foot" of chocolate and the kids each a "LOVELY" bird caller. I think my dad must have thought this was one hilarious joke, because I have FOUR bird callers now. It is a beautiful sound when it is a mile away. I love you Mom & Dad & Thank You!!!

A total Girl Scout

Rachel has been wanting to do girl scouts for a while now. Our neighbor, one of her good friends Isabel, planted the girl scout bug. Isabel's mom, Jennifer is a leader this year so we jumped on it. And she has been having a blast. This also means that I have more patches to sew on, I mean iron on.

There are 8 girls all from her school. The other leader is Amy, who has twin girls that Rachel totally loves. Amy's mom, who they call Grandma Peach, is also a leader. It is a great group.

I love watching Rachel interact with other girls. She is so cute. I do hope and pray that she always has good friends that she can have fun with and that treat her well.

This was their first meeting. They learned a few girl scout songs. They even sang Barges. Which brought back some good YW girls camp memories.

They meet every other week and so their next meeting was at Boli Brothers Pizza, right before Halloween. They got to carve pumpkins while they were there. She did a great job.

Their 3rd meeting was like their pledge meeting. They welcomed in all the new girls and acknowledged the ones from last year. You gotta love their hats.

Rachel's Field Trip to the OLC

Part of being the homeroom mom, gets you privileges like going on field trips with your kids. (Matthew was a little disappointed that I didn't go with his class, but he had his turn last year.)

We went to the KISD Outdoor Learning Center. I have heard alot about this place, but have never been before and am glad I was able to see what it was all about. It is like an outdoorsy, nature-like Children's Museum, total hands on. The kids loved it and I even learned alot.
Leaf pressing.
Pioneer Games.
Barn where they husked the corn, ground it and made corn meal to feed the chickens.

They loved the rabbits.
Showing the chicken eggs that they take to the first graders so they can watch them hatch.
Pumping water.

Pigeons. They usually let each class take one back to school and they let it go from there and they find their way back to their home, but there have been some mean hawks out that swoop in take the pigeons as they come home. So they will get a chance in the spring.

I took this picture for Lauren, she loves butterflies.

They were looking at leave, feathers and seeds.
Different bird eggs.

Not sure what this is.

Yes, we are in Texas. Rachel loved having me there. She wouldn't let go of me.

End of Rachel's Soccer Season

The coach said that just about every coach they played asked him if Rachel was really 7 or 8 years old. She is tall, but she loves the fact that she is taller than her 10 year old brother. She had an awesome season. Steve told her for every game she scored in, he would get her a treat and I think he got her quite a few treats.

Her last game we all froze. It was 50 something degrees outside and very windy. I know some people would laugh at that, but I realize now why I live in Texas. I can handle the heat much better than the cold.
Then we even got to have an "outside" end of the season pizza party for her team right after her game. It was nice, but cold.

Matthew's Baseball Season Ends

Here is a snap shot of Matthew's baseball team. They don't do pictures this season so another mom took this one for us. We just had an end of season party at Texas Traditions. It was just an opportunity to thank the coaches and to say good-bye. He had some really great coaches. They also didn't get trophies this season. They save all the good stuff for the spring, I guess. Matthew was a little bummed about the trophy, but he enjoyed the whole season.
He was THE catcher on his team and did an awesome job. I don't think anyone else wanted the job. I heard a lot of parents comment on how good he was at it. So, I guess he has found his spot in baseball, because he wants to do it again. We'll see!

Happy 2nd Birthday Cousin Max!

This is a BOY I have been waiting for. Everytime we would go visit my brother and his family of 3 cute, little, sweet, beautiful, perfect girls, I felt like I had to make excuses for my 2 cute, little, sweet, beautiful, perfect BOYS. I don't know why, because I grew up with four younger brothers who were also cute, little, sweet, beautiful and perfect. And I was praying that my brother would have a boy of his own.

Well, on to your Birthday Max. We hope you have a great one by kicking and screaming for what you want, making a mess with your cake and toys and doing everything a little 2 year old boy wants to do.

We love you Max for being so cute, little, sweet, beautiful and perfect!!!
