Our Thanksgiving in San Antonio

We were able to spend Thanksgiving with family. (Steve's brother Scott and Family and Kari's Brother Brent and family.) Scott & Kari are always such wonderful hosts. It was a fabulous feast and a very nice day.

I think it is a Spendlove tradition no matter where you go on Thanksgiving that you get three candy corns on your plate and before the eating begins, we go around the table taking turns sharing three things we are thankful for. It is always a very special moment reflecting on the most important blessings we have been given.

{I didn't seem to take a moment before Thanksgiving to show my gratitude much so this tradition was a great moment for me to feel that Thanksgiving Spirit.}

The girls were in charge of the rolls. They turned out pretty darn good. One of our Turkey Day activities-coloring Turkey placemats! (We also had plenty of Rock Band, Football Game Watching and Playing in the Kitchen.
No, Uncle Scott is not the Turkey. There was trouble getting the BIG turkey out of the roasting pan, so Scott took matters in his own hands covered with hot mittens and plastic bags and lifted the turkey out himself.

My camera was having issues, so here is another blurry picture, but the only one of our delicious Thanksgiving Meal.
The Turkey Bowl-Spendloves vs. Christiansens I am not sure who won :) I just know that Steve twisted his knee and Ethan was in 7th heaven.
I won't take any credit for this abundance of pies. Amysue and Kari were like pros when it came to baking these. I just sat back and admired.
Lauren was out in the garage helping the guys get their bikes ready for their big ride the next morning and came in looking like this. Yikes!

This kids and their treasures found by the lake. They even had enough fish skeleton they put it back together like a puzzle.

This is Ethan's favorite past time. He was by Uncle Scott's side the whole time fishing and they were pretty productive.

Yes, this is one fish trying to eat another. The fish was stuck in it's mouth and they were floating to shore. So we were able to end up saving one. So Bizarre!
One beautiful fish. I wish I could remember what kind it was and how much it weighed. {I was just told this is a carp and it weighed about 5lbs.}

These boys weren't just hanging around like this all the time. But it is a cute pic!
We are actually sitting on the lake bed The water was pretty low, which is normal for a lake made from a dam. It was a fun evening relaxing and watching the kids play with fire.

This was a much needed break. And like always we have so much to be thankful for. Right now we are so thankful for Scott & Kari sharing their lake house with us and for taking such good care of us all. We had a great time, even if we all did get sick. Sorry!!!

Lauren's Thanksgiving Feast

Today Steve and I both were able to attend Lauren's Thanksgiving Feast. They sang some songs for us. Our favorite is

"Brown Squirrel Brown Squirrel,
Shake your fuzzy tail.
Drop a nut, Pick it Up,
Turn yourself around."

We love to watch her shake her fuzzy tail. She wasn't however too theatrical this time around. Her Hat Day parade/song and dance performance by Lauren was a little more entertaining. To refresh your memory and for a good laugh, check her out here.

She is a cutie and we love spending our time with her. We are so thankful for her wonderful teacher and her class full of great kids. Lauren loves them all.

Happy 4th Birthday Cousin Macy!

In our house we still want to call her "Baby Macy" even though she is only a few months younger than Lauren. Macy is Lauren's best friend and we are so sorry this is a belated birthday wish. But we hope you had a great birthday Macy and tell your Mom & Dad to bring you sometime soon for a visit. We love and miss you!

This is Na Na's 6th birthday. My how times flies, especially when we hardly ever get to see this cute little guy. We hope you have a great day and like always, we sure do wish we could be there to help celebrate. We hope you birthday wishes come true.
