Happy Birthday Mom!
This is Steve's Mom when she was about Ethan's age. I always think it is fun to see people when they were younger. This is one of my favorites. When I look at it I see a little bit of Emily, Aubrey, Summer, Nephi & Matthew.
This is Steve's Mom now, always smiling and having a great time.
I know the picture that would make her the proudest on this her special day, would be one of all her children (7) and grandchildren (19), but I don't have ONE.
I couldn't have asked for a better mother-in-law. She is always so thoughtful and always up for fun. Thank you for being such a wonderful Mom, Mother-in-law and Grandma.
We love you and hope you had a great day!!!

The 44th President of the United States of America
Since blogging is my way of journaling, I thought November 4, 2008 was a day in history that will never be forgotten and was worth journaling. Barack Obama was elected the next president of the United States.

If I Were President I Would...
You are probably expecting me to get a little political, but I'M not - Matthew & Rachel are.
MatthewIf I were president i wold lower taxas and i would Spend more time with my family and watch over my family and tack care of my family and tacke care of my pets. And i would be a beter american and a beter persin. And help other poeple in my naberhood and lover gas. I would make a speech of laws and freedom. I woud macke shor that the army has unof suplis. And macke shor that the schools have anuff suplies. I woud tacke care of my countrey. And I would tack car of the pleas and fbI.

Monster Truck Show Down
Yes, we went to the Saturday Texas Monster Truck ShootOut. It was a surprise for the kids. The boys loved it, the girls tolerated it (there was free candy & prizes) Dad had mixed emotions and Mom just loved the people watching opportunity.
Actually, we all had a great time. Our favorite was the Motocross bikes doing flips. They also had a few games, rock wall and bounce houses. Ethan won a T-shirt and was really excited about having all the pros sign it at the end of the night. My camera ran out of batteries but there was a nice hill that all the kids were rolling down. It was another high on sugar moment for Lauren and we were trying hard not to laugh at her. She is going to go through withdrawals next week.

Trick or Treat, Smell my Feet, Give me Something Good to Eat!
Matthew/Indiana Jones, Rachel/Super Pajama Girl, Lauren/Snow White & Ethan/Indecisive
Ethan went to one door and the man said he must be dressed up like an ugly teenager. Steve and I laughed, but Ethan didn't think it was too funny. He is at a funny age, too cool to dress up, yet still young enough to want to.
We gave the kids a few options this year.
A. We always have the ward Trunk or Treat Party.
B. A friend told me about a big carnival like thing at the Merril Center (where we would get dinner and candy and games and rides and etc...)
C. Of course, good old trick or treating.
We actually talked the kids into going the Merril Center first. So off we went....but when we got there was not a single car in the parking lot. Apparently, they weren't having it this year. Talk about wasted trick or treating time.
It actually turned out to be a great success. The kids bags were full after we finished trick or treating around our house. That is the whole reason for Halloween right? All the CANDY!!!!
Well, Steve came up with this brilliant idea. After having so much fun getting all the candy and as they kids were laying it all out over the floor, Steve told them that he would buy their candy from them. They could keep 15 pieces of their choice and then give the rest to him for $5. It was great. Matthew was the only that had to think about it for a little while before he gave in. And Lauren, the candy queen, even thought it was a brilliant idea, especially after I told her she could buy a barbie or Polly Pockets with her money.
She was the one we needed to get the candy away from the soonest. You could see the sugar working in her. As we were trick or treating, Steve and I would just look at each other and start laughing she was so wired. Poor little thing! You also have to remember that we didn't feed our kids dinner tonight because we thought we were going to eat at the Merril Center. So they were all chowing down on their candy.
Lauren insisted on wearing her princess shoes, even after I got her some comfy ones to wear just for this, and she wore them almost the whole night. It was just long enough to get 5 major blisters on her cute little feet. I felt so bad for her. But I don't think she cared....she was getting candy.
Lauren and our neighbors Ileana & Alex. Lauren and Ileana will be starting Kindergarten together.

Lauren will do anything for candy.
It is fun to see people get so into Halloween. Especially since I don't.
This one of Matthew's favorite pastimes. He loves to organize and group thing. So of course he would do this with all of his candy.
Ethan just has his CAN eat pile and his CAN NOT eat pile. He is such a trooper when it comes to not being able to eat all the yummy stuff the rest of get to eat. It works out kind of nice for mom and dad sometimes, because we get all the good milk chocolate candy that Ethan can't have.

Pumpkin Carving for reals!
We had big plans to do our pumpkins earlier in the week. I even went early enough to pick out some nice pumpkins. But the kids just decided that this was not the night they wanted to cooperate so we had to cancel. Which is a bad thing around here because trying to reschedule something like that in our schedule is a hard thing to do. We finally fit it in on Halloween Day just before it got dark.
Steve had everything under control, it was amazing. I was hastily finishing up costumes, while he took the pumpkin carving lead. They all turned out so good.
Just remind me to do this outside next year. I don't know why we do it at the kitchen table every year. I am still picking up pumpkin off the floor.
Ethan's pumpkin has flame eyes, a surf board nose and waves for a mouth.
Matthew's of course is the Batman Pumpkin.
Rachel went to a girl scout activity where they carved pumpkins at Boli Brother's Pizza and was trained by a professional. She came home with a very nice looking pumpkin. So she did a great job on her other pumpkin at home too.
Lauren has such great hand eye coordination it is amazing. She did a great job on her own cutting this pumpkin face out.

Halloween from Grandma & Grandpa
We recieved a nice package in the mail the day before Halloween from Grandma & Grandpa Cannon. It was the beginning of a major sugar HIGH! It was a wonderful surprise and the kids loved it. THANKS so much Mom & Dad!

This was totally the coolest cheer ever and my camera was on time lapse when I recorded it and so I am bummed that I don't have it. I'll have to have them do it for me again some other time.
