I like the science experiment with the glass bottle. Try it with some magnesium (you can get it with flint at most camping store) and add it some hydrochloric acid (which you can get at most pool supply stores). The result should be a balloon filled with Hydrogen gas, not only will it float like a Helium balloon but it will explode too when it gets near a flame. Fun at all ages.
